“Living for the King in light of the Cross”

Throughout the Bible, a personal, kind, gracious, loving and just God reveals Himself to us. This God is our cosmic King who sits enthroned in the Heavens, ruling and reigning with love and power over His creation. The revelation of God’s cosmic Kingship comes most clearly into focus when God the Son becomes the Man, Jesus.

Throughout Jesus’ life, he pushes back the forces of darkness and advances the Kingdom of God on earth. His Kingdom is a Kingdom of hope, healing, and reconciliation and he rules with grace, mercy, truth, and love.

King Jesus ultimately establishes his Kingdom and defeats sin, death, and the devil at his death on a Cross. He took upon himself the sin of the world and received the judgment we deserve. It is through the Cross that we have access to the King and are invited into his Kingdom.

Everyone who trusts Jesus solely for forgiveness of their sins is invited to be with him in his Kingdom, and is commissioned to partner with him to see His Kingdom come on earth as in Heaven.

What We Believe

1. There is one, eternal God, Creator and Lord of the universe who, in the unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, both governs all things according to God’s will and is accomplishing God’s purpose in the world and in the church.

2. The sixty-six books of Holy Scripture in its entirety are inspired by God’s Spirit through human authors and constitutes the revelation of God’s truth to humanity. It is wholly true and trustworthy in all that it affirms. Whatever the Bible, rightly interpreted, is found to teach, we are bound to believe and obey. It is our supreme authority in every matter of belief and conduct.

3. God created all human beings male and female, in God’s own likeness and therefore all men and women have inherent value and equality before God. God created marriage as a gift in which one man and one woman have the opportunity to model Christ’s sacrificial love for the church in their own sacrificial love towards one another.

4. Adam, created in the image of God, rebelled against God and distorted that image. Through Adam’s rebellion sin entered the created order. Human sin and guilt since the fall have rendered us subject to God’s wrath and condemnation and have resulted in our alienation from God’s life, suppression of God’s truth, and hostility to God’s law. The supreme need of all people is to be reconciled to God under whose just and holy wrath we stand; the only hope of humanity is the undeserved love of this same God, who alone can rescue us and restore us to Himself. God’s love desires all to come to repentance and to be reconciled rather than condemned.

5. Salvation from the guilt, penalty, and all other consequences of sin has been achieved solely through the work of Jesus Christ – his perfect obedience, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection and exaltation as Lord. Jesus alone is truly God and truly human, the only mediator between God and humanity. There is salvation through no other person, creed, process or power. Each sinner is justified before God and reconciled to God only by divine grace appropriated by faith in Jesus alone.

6. The work of the Holy Spirit is necessary for the individual’s new birth and growth to maturity. The Holy Spirit is the down payment of the believer’s future inheritance. He empowers and indwells the church, enabling its constant renewal in truth, wisdom, faith, holiness, love, ministry, power and mission.

7. Those who have been saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus and have been renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit enter the kingdom of God and delight in the promises of God: the forgiveness of sins, the inward transformation that awakens a desire to glorify, trust, and obey God, and the hope of eternal life with Jesus. Good works are an indispensable evidence of saving grace. Followers of Jesus should neither withdraw into seclusion from the world, nor become indistinguishable from it. Rather, as citizens of the Kingdom we are to do good to the city: we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and care for the marginalized unto the glory of God. The Kingdom of God is an invasive power that plunders Satan’s dark kingdom and regenerates and renovates through repentance and faith the lives of individuals rescued from that kingdom. It inevitably establishes a new community of human life together under God.

8. There is one, holy, universal and apostolic church, which is the Body of Christ, and to which all true believers belong. The church’s calling is to worship God forever and to serve God in the world. The Church serves as a sign of God’s future new world when its members live rightly in worship to God and in service of one another and their neighbors; rather than for a self-focus.

9. As the Father sent the Son into the world, so the Lord Jesus Christ sends his church to participate in God’s mission by words and works. The church is called: to make Christ known; to proclaim God’s truth and the gospel of God’s grace; to make disciples among all nations; to exhibit God’s character through compassionate care for the needy; to demonstrate the reality of God’s kingdom through creative and sacrificial living, the community of love, the quest for righteousness, justice and peace, and the care of God’s creation.

10. As the Lord Jesus ascended to his Father, so he will return personally, visibly and in glory. He will raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to final completion. God will then fully establish his Kingdom and finish the new creation – a new heaven and a new earth from which all evil and evildoers, all suffering and death, will be excluded; and in which God will be glorified forever.

Leadership

Pastors

In the New Testament we see three words used to describe men who possess the character, competency, and calling to lead the local church— Pastor, Elder, and Overseer. Many Christian traditions use the word “Elder” in reference to the men who lead the church. At King’s Cross Church we refer to our “Elders” as “Pastors.”

Staff

Staff refers to the men and women who serve King’s Cross Church vocationally.

  • Austin Glenn

    Lead Pastor

Austin grew up in Phoenix, AZ and was raised in church. In 2007 Austin trusted Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins and began a personal relationship with Him. For the first time his faith became personal and real. From the overflow of joy that Austin discovered in Jesus, he pledged his life to helping others meet Jesus too. He later moved to Colorado Springs, CO where he met and married Monica. Together they have four children. Austin has over 15 years of ministry experience and been in vocational ministry since 2018.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University in business and communication and then earned a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary. For fun, Austin enjoys spending time with his family, reading good books, watching good movies, and going for hikes.

”It’s my deepest desire to see people meet and follow Jesus. The highest degree of human flourishing is found in closest proximity to Jesus, so I love helping people find life in the source of life— Jesus!”

  • Brittany Chelette Ed.D.

    Minister to Children

Brittany grew up in the New Orleans area and doesn't remember a time when Jesus was not a part of her life. She met her husband Craig, who is also a Louisiana native, at Louisiana State University where they got married in 2010, shortly before God called them to Utah. Together they have two human children, Charlie and Chloe, and a labradoodle named Beau.

God has given Brittany a passion for teaching and learning. By His grace, she earned both a B.S. and an M.A. in Elementary Education from LSU, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership & Policy from the University of Utah. Brittany taught elementary school in Davis County for 11 years and continues to be an educational consultant for teachers throughout the U.S. She is currently pursuing a Master of Theological Essentials from the Salt Lake School of Theology.

"My desire is to lead the children in Davis County to know who their Savior is—to know and accept His radical, life-giving love and grace. It's such an honor to play a role in teaching our kids how great God's love is for all of us, and how they can respond to that."

  • Brent Van Sickle

    Pastor of Missions and Outreach

Brent and Jennifer grew up together in Newton, Kansas and even attended the same church where Brent received Christ early in life. Later, they both studied at Northland International University. They married in 2005 and God has blessed the Van Sickles with Brook, Braden, and Bryce their three children.

Brent later earned an M.A. in Biblical Studies through Marantha Seminary. The Van Sickles love living in Utah; they enjoy the outdoors, camping, and hiking. Brent is very involved with many different sports, but he especially loves pickle ball and coaches it for the Farmington Rec League.

”I just want to love Jesus, love people, and make Jesus known in Farmington, Utah!”

  • Austin Porter

    Minister of Care and Students

Austin is a Davis County native and grew up as a pastor’s kid in Bountiful, Utah. By God’s grace there has never been a time where he did not know Jesus or the freedom of His love. Austin met his wife, Emily, while dancing Zumba Fitness® (led by Emily) together at a Children’s home in Tijuana, Mexico. Together they have lived in Kansas, California, Colorado, and Utah. They have a son Timothy, a baby girl on the way, and two Golden retrievers.

Austin earned his B.A. in New Testament Biblical Studies from Sterling College and his M.Div. in Old Testament from Denver Seminary. He jokes that after seven years of study he finally has one complete Bible degree! In addition to serving on staff at KCC, Austin brings spiritual comfort to the sick and dying as a hospice chaplain. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, outdoor recreation, the Denver Broncos, listening to audio books, and dancing in the living room with his family.

“I long to see all people freed to love and serve Jesus and to be released from the burden of perfection and performing. My hope for the church is that it would serve as a genuine community where true love is lived out, doubts are expressed and allowed, and true and substantive answers are given.”

  • Josh Gardner

    Director of Discipleship and Development

Josh and Rachel, both native to the DFW area of Texas, met in the youth ministry at Church at the Cross and later attended the University of North Texas together. They married in 2016 and relocated to Utah in 2019. They had their daughter in May of 2025.

Josh holds an Advanced Master of Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Over the past decade, he has dedicated his ministry vocation to College, Student, and Groups ministry, driven by a passion for discipleship. Currently, he is exploring the possibilities of church planting in Utah.

“To be a Christian is to be a disciple. My greatest passion is to help people thrive under the discipleship of Jesus by dedicating their lives to His Kingdom and discipling others, in all areas of their lives.”

Partnerships

People don’t plant churches, churches plant churches. By God’s grace we have a long list of partner churches from across the country who have helped make King’s Cross Church a reality. We are especially thankful for Church at the Cross, our sending church, for training and supporting us. Additionally King’s Cross Church would not have been possible without the help of Times12 and Send Network the two church planting networks to whom we belong.
