King’s Kids

Creating safe places for kids to encounter Jesus and follow Him forever.

Ministry Shaped by Scripture

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb, a reward. Psalm 127:3.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6.

At King’s Cross Church, we have one worship gathering from 10:00-11:30 AM. We practice a hybrid, integrated family worship model in which children participate in musical worship with their families and then are invited to receive an age-appropriate Bible teaching in our King’s Kids ministry with friends their own age.

We are deeply committed to teaching children a Jesus-centered, grace-motivated understanding of the entire Bible. Through providing Jesus-centered teaching in every opportunity, and through equipping parents with gospel saturated resources- we can one day send out our kids equipped to accomplish Christ's mission as they follow Jesus forever.

What to Expect on Sunday Mornings

  • Arrive and go to the children’s check-in area.

  • Complete children’s check-in and receive a parent/guardian(s) receipt.

  • If your child is 0-2 years old, feel free to drop him/her off in the nursery.

  • Bring your Pre-K+ children with you into the main gathering to participate in musical worship with you and the rest of the church.

  • After the songs, during the greeting time, we will dismiss your child to King’s Kids ministry where they are taught the entire Bible every three years.

  • After the adult teaching time, you’re invited to pick-up your child so they can participate with you during our response time. Or, you can pick them up after the entire gathering is over.

About our Vision

  • Creating Safe Places

At King’s Cross Church, our children’s safety is of the highest priority. To help ensure the safety of our children, all children’s ministry volunteers are screened, background checked, and Ministry- Safe certified. King’s Kids uses a check-in system that includes a guardian receipt to ensure that all children are safely returned to the correct guardian(s) upon pick-up.

  • For Kids

We offer a nursery where 0-3 year olds are introduced to Jesus through games, songs, age-appropriate centers, and board books. After worshipping with the adults, pre K-6th graders participate in a large group teaching time and then they split up into age-based small groups led by trained volunteers. Small group serves as a safe place to discuss and engage with content in relevant ways, while teaching children how to apply it to their lives.

  • To Encounter Jesus

There is nothing more important and nothing that brings us greater joy than for a child to trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and begin a personal relationship with Him. King’s Kids teaches all children a Jesus-centered worldview. We take a grace-motivated approach to teach the gospel—not moralism. We use the Gospel Project curriculum and children are taught the Bible cover-to-cover every three years. King’s Kids is also glad to provide at-home resources for families to pursue Jesus together during the week.

  • Follow Him Forever

We want King’s Cross kids to not only encounter Jesus, but to follow Him their whole lives. We practice hybrid, integrated family worship. Studies are conclusive that when children worship with their parents/guardian in “big church,” then “big church” doesn’t feel as foreign in adulthood. Studies also show that parents are the most impactful spiritual influences in the life of their child—at all ages. At King’s Cross, parents have the opportunity to model corporate worship for their children. After our time of musical worship, children are dismissed to receive an age-appropriate teaching from the Bible with kids their own age. Following their teaching, small group and activity time, children are invited back into the main gathering to sing and respond to their teaching.

Every 5th Sunday is Family Worship Sunday and children stay with their parents during the entire gathering. King’s Cross pastors lead families through practices that will aid in holistic spiritual formation.

About the Gospel Project

The word “gospel” simply means “good news.” When Christians say the word “gospel” they are talking about how God the Son took on human flesh—Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect life and then died on the cross in our place. When He did this, He took all the sins ever committed—past, present, and future and paid the penalty for them. Now, all who trust in Jesus’ atoning work can receive forgiveness of their sins and the assurance that they will be with Jesus forever in eternity. The Gospel Project curriculum reiterates this good news every week by showing how every part of the Bible points back to Jesus and this story of redemption. The Gospel Project provides Jesus-centered, grace-motivated, scripture-shaped teachings that go through the entire Bible chronologically every three years.
