Good Friday Program

Good Lord,

Deliver Us

Oh — Oh — Oh—, deliver us

Oh — Oh — Oh—, deliver us

Good Lord, Good Lord, Good Lord, deliver us
Good Lord, Good Lord, Good Lord, deliver us

From the merchants in the temple,
And the worship of our greed,
From the whisper of the tempter,
That we should take more than we need!

From the chains of wealth and plunder,
From our avarice and pride,
From the ever growing hunger,
From our vanity and strife

Good Lord, Good Lord, Good Lord, deliver us
Good Lord, Good Lord, Good Lord, deliver us

From our constant quest for power,
Over all that we survey,
From the lies that we devour,
From the fears we cannot face

Come and save us from our demons!
Come and strip away our hate!
Come, O Lord, restore our reason!
Come, O Christ, the time is late!

Good Lord, Good Lord, Good Lord, deliver us!
Good Lord, Good Lord, Good Lord, deliver us!

Man of Sorrows

Man of sorrows, Lamb of God
By His own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God
Has been on Jesus laid

Silent as He stood accused
Beaten, mocked, and scorned
Bowing to the Father's will
He took a crown of thorns

Oh, that rugged cross, my salvation!
Where Your love poured out over me!
Now my soul cries out, hallelujah!
Praise and honor unto Thee

Sent of heaven, God's own Son
To purchase and redeem
And reconcile the very ones
Who nailed Him to that tree

Oh, that rugged cross, my salvation!
Where Your love poured out over me!
Now my soul cries out, hallelujah!
Praise and honor unto Thee

Praise and honor unto Thee

Now my debt is paid
It is paid in full

By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled

Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free
Oh, is free indeed

Now my debt is paid

It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled

Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me

Whom the Son sets free
Oh, is free indeed

See the stone is rolled away

Behold the empty tomb—
Hallelujah, God be praised
He's risen from the grave

Oh, that rugged cross, my salvation

Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out, hallelujah
Praise and honor unto Thee

Praise and honor unto Thee
Praise and honor unto Thee

Meditation and Reflection

Use this time to reflect on how you have mocked Jesus, personally.

Let’s Pray Together

Leader: We are ashamed, Lord, and we blush to lift up our faces before you.

Congregation: Our sins increase over our head, and our trespasses rise up to heaven. To us belong shame and confusion, because we have sinned against you.

Leader: If we try to justify ourselves, our own mouths will condemn us. You, who are greater than our hears, know all things.

Congregation: We ourselves know that we have sinned, Father, against heaven and before you, and we are no more worthy to be called your children.

Leader: But there is forgiveness, mercy, and redemption with you. You will not despise a broken and contrite heart.

Congregation: Though Heaven is your throne, and the earth your footstool, still you will look to the poor and humble person who trembles at your word. You revive the spirit of the humble, and the heart of the contrite.

Leader: The ones who cover their sins will not prosper, yet those that confess and forsake them will find mercy. You have said that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

All:  Forgive us Lord. Amen.

All Sufficient Merit

All sufficient merit,
Shining like the sun
A fortune I inherit,
By no work I have done

My righteousness I forfeit
At my Savior's cross
Where all sufficient merit
Did what I could not

In love, He condescended
Eternal, now in time
A life without a blemish

The Maker made to die

The law could never save us
Our lawlessness had won
Until the pure and spotless
Lamb had finally come

It is done, it is finished—
No more debt I owe
Paid in full, all sufficient
Merit now my own

I lay down my crowns
Any empty boasts
Good works all corrupted
By the sinful host

Dressed in my Lord Jesus
A crimson robe made white
No more fear of judgment
His righteousness is mine!

It is done, it is finished—
No more debt I owe

Paid in full, all sufficient
Merit now my own

All sufficient merit,
Firm in life and death
The joy of my salvation
Shall be my final breath

When I stand accepted
Before the throne of God
I'll gaze upon my Jesus
And thank Him for the Cross

Yes, I'll thank You for the Cross

It is done, it is finished—
No more debt I owe

Paid in full, all sufficient
Merit now my own

It is done, it is finished
No more debt I owe

Paid in full, all sufficient
Merit now my own

Merit now my own

Merit now my own

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
’Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ, I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
’Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
